Since it should not be placed on a stand, but will find space on a platform, the holder had to be locked.
The Colonial One bridge will have a navigation light. For this, the space for the light guide with a diameter of 0.5mm had to be milled between the two halves.
One of the 3 engines. My idea was to accommodate two different light colors here. Therefore, a bridge had to be fitted to separate the red and yellow light.
The windows in the hull are very large. Therefore, light guides with a diameter of 1mm should fit exactly, but this should lead to difficulties in retrospect.
Top and bottom of an engine. The two SMDs with red and yellow can be clearly seen. The "blind" windows are fitted in the second half. These had to be made precisely and are necessary so that the SMDs do not dazzle and the light is refracted. The inside is painted matt black so that no light shines through.
Another drive with red and yellow SMDs
This is what the locked drive with the blind window would look like. The light is refracted and the SMD radiates over the entire field.
The structure was also equipped with two yellow SMDs for the large windows. The side parts with light guide.
Since the Colonial One will stand on a platform, the power supply can be led through the front stand foot.
Der Fuß ist sehr filigran und daher war ein sehr sorgfältiges Arbeiten gefordert. Vor allem durfte beim Befestigen auf der Plattform keine Stromversorgung mehr sichtbar sein.
The top of the fuselage is equipped with light guides with a diameter of 1mm. Since there were a lot of windows, the LEDs almost ran out of space.
Im nächsten Schritt wurde der Aufbau auf den Rumpf gesetzt. Hier wurde es zum ersten Mal schon eng mit den Lichtleitern und LEDs.
As always, the holes first had to be drilled, primed and painted so that the light guides could only then be inserted. Since the structure did not fit 100%, it had to be reworked.
We are running out of space with all the light guides and LEDs. Since the light guides are also very close to the adhesive edge, putting them together will be very difficult.
Now the bridge has been connected to the drives. The cables had to be led into the fuselage. For reasons of space, the position light on the bridge could only be connected with an LED in the fuselage. The dark paintwork works very well as a contrast to the light ship.
The antennas aren't actually intended, but they don't look bad.
The second and third drive could not be attached until everything is mounted on the fuselage.
The painting of the flaps was very complex. The basic color was steel, after which it was taped differently several times in order to apply three more colors.
Alles hat zwei Seiten… ;-)
Whether anyone will ever see the work ...
Different colors were also applied to the bridge.
Now it was time to put the parts together. The rear drive was also equipped with two white LEDs and a flicker effect. The painting with hot metal in purple, blue and red was once an attempt.
Attaching the bridge was not that easy as the fit of the model was a bit poor. In addition, nothing was allowed to shine through the lighting afterwards.
