Viper MK VII in Porsche Gulf Design

The model of the Viper MK VII from Revell is in the scale 1:32 and has a length of 30.9 cm. The kit was reissued by Revell in 2012. The cockpit has been replaced by the etched part cockpit from Paragrafix.

In the case of floor-standing models, it has proven to be useful to use the trolleys for power consumption. A visible cable outside of the model does not work at all, as it would destroy the appearance. Here the undercarriages were so thin that only one cable could be pulled through each one.

The holes for the light guides were already punched in the Paragrafix sentence, which was very beneficial to me. Light guides with a diameter of 0.5 mm and a diameter of 0.23 mm were used.

Auch hier waren die Folien zum Aufkleben dabei. Nur für die optimale Ausleuchtung musste ich mir reichlich Gedanken machen.

Es mussten SMDs und Lichtleiter eingearbeitet werden um verschiedene Farben ins Cockpit zu bringen.

Ein leichtes Weathering der Konsole macht es viel lebendiger.

The light guides must be painted black so that the bright SMDs do not outshine them. The space became less and less in the end.

Die SMDs mussten genau ausgerichtet werden, da sonst die Folien nicht richtig beleuchtet werden. Das war Millimeterarbeit.

In order to get the instrument panel into the cockpit, the light guides had to be bent very far. The second problem was the sharp edges of the etched parts.

Die Seitenteile vom Cockpit wurden ebenfalls mit Lichtleiter und SMDs bestückt. Die restlichen Knöpfe wurden von Hand bemalt.

Das Schwärzen der Lichtleiter ist auch hier unbedingt notwendig, sonst würde die SMD das Licht der Lichtleiter beeinflussen.

Einpassen der Seitenteile. Bei dem scharfkantigen Blech ist Vorsicht beim Einfädeln geboten.

That will turn out to be more light guides than expected. The ends should flash, flicker and light up permanently. That gets really tight when installing it in the model.

The idea has always been in my head not to paint the Viper in the boring blue-gray. I had something else in mind that hadn't been done before. So I decided to paint the Viper in the colors of Gulf Porsche from 1970. The orange was the first.

This time it was really fun to tape up. Red and green position lights were built into the outer wing tips. The light guides had to be bent several times and camouflaged well until they were accommodated in the fuselage.
