Droid control ship

This is a 3D print with a diameter of 17cm.

The top is very detailed and well made for the size.

There aren't that many details on the underside, but the fit is extremely good.

The two halves were printed very thin and hollow so that there was room for the lighting.

Now the 2550 holes were drilled and then well primed. So that none of the LEDs shine through, it has been painted with matt black.

The hangars had to remain transparent to allow the indirect lighting to shine through. The assembly of the holes with light guides whose diameter was only 0.25mm has begun.

The basic color outside is light gray and the middle part is sprayed with the color Sahl.

The ring is very complex to equip with the light guides. Since the material is very thin, these do not hold up well and have to be glued on quickly.

Verlegung der Lichtleiter ist abgeschlossen. Nun geht es an die Elektronik.

Für die Antreibe wurde das überschüssige Material ausgefräst und die passenden Flacker-LEDs eingesetzt.

All fiber optic ends are now connected to the LEDs. Now the LEDs are wired so that there are only a few cables to the power source.

Da Ober und Unterseite mit Lichtleiter und LEDs versorgt werden, wird es beim Zusammenbau etwas eng. Die Lichtleiten mussten mit einem Fön erwärmt werden und in das Modell gedrückt werden. Nach dem Erkalten behalten die Lichtleiter ihre Form.

The SMDs were supplied individually with cables and resistors on the strip and then cut apart.

Die größeren Fenster wurden mit diesen SMDs versorgt. Die SMDs haben ein warm-weißes Licht und setzen sich an der Vorderseite somit etwas ab.

A hemisphere with light guides is supplied with only one LED.

To get the effect of indirect lighting, some SMDs were attached individually. The inside was painted clear blue.

The wiring is done and the light test can begin.

The model is used as a diorama and can be found on the rear display of the Venator Classe.

The model is now illuminated inside and outside and can even be rotated.

The warm-white windows are easy to see here. Some red position lights were also installed.
