USS Franklin from Moebius

Das Modell der U.S.S. Franklin wurde 2018 von Moebius Models im Maßstab 1:350 Veröffentlicht.

The kit at a glance. The parts seem to be cast very well. First the inside was painted black matt. The light kit from Tena Controls was also ordered and should also be located in the Franklin.

Two parts were always required for the windows. Once the clear part and once the outside facade.

Auf der Oberseite wurden zunächst seitliche Fenster und das Cockpit eingesetzt. Ein guter Halt war hier auf jeden Fall gegeben und auch die Teile passten wieder perfekt.

Since the rows of windows were inserted above the position lights, they had to be glued in beforehand with small SMDs and fixed with a textile tape and made opaque.

Die Führungen und ein verklebtes Positionslicht sind hier gut zu sehen.

Eigentlich sollten sich alle die in den Gondeln befindlichen Propeller nur in eine Richtung drehen.
Das sollte mit dem Rotorgestänge aus einem ausgedienten kleinen Hubschraubermodell umgesetzt werden. Besser war natürlich dieses Teil hier.

The gear and the linkage were separated from the flying ball and shortened. Carefully drilled through the propellers from the model and placed them on the rods. These also had to be bent a little under heat so that they did not touch each other due to the rotary movement.

Angetrieben von einem Getriebemotor sollte das irgendwie funktionieren.

Für die unteren kleinen Schubdüsen wurden Lichtleiter mit 0,5 mm Durchmesser eingezogen und die Enden angeschliffen um einen Lichtaustritt mit 360 Grad zu bekommen.

It continued with the caps of the gondolas. One of the three propellers was glued into the cap. Challenge here, no glue should be visible.

Therefore, a tiny drop of solvent-free glue was used only on the invisible ends.

The rear pane was painted matt transparent to diffuse the orange light from the pulsating circuit board.

The TenaControl circuit board was attached and fixed behind it.
